The Clinical Trial & Database Management Research Assistant will serve as a member of the research team at the University of Iowa, Division of Allergy, Immunology, and Rheumatology. The primary responsibility is to recruit patients to a long-term research registry. The Clinical Trial & Database Management Research Assistant duties will include but are not limited to screening and recruitment, consent, data entry/collection and monitoring, record management, phlebotomy, and occasional lab processing. Additional duties include obtaining medical records, reviewing medical record data with Principal Investigator, and entering data into research registry/database containing clinical research information. Duties to include:

• Protocol Development/ Management and Study Responsibilities: Consult with researchers to assist in development a data management plan; design forms to facilitate the collection and tracking of study participant data, study drugs, biological specimens and study procedures.
• Research/Clinical Activities; Subject Recruitment and Enrollment: Enroll subjects into the SAPHO-CNO longitudinal observational study, and other clinical research studies of patients with autoinflammatory diseases.
• Data Collection and Monitoring: Perform and meet proficiency and competency testing standards and maintain data and equipment records according to regulatory guidelines.
• Regulatory Guidelines and Documents: Develop procedures for on-site data audits; participate in audits; design and generate reports for use in data audits; summarize results of audits and write reports.
• Human Resources/Leadership: May provide functional supervision
• Financial Responsibility: Perform a variety of routine tasks related to the recruitment, enrollment and monitoring of research subjects or to the research environment (lab, clinic, field, classroom).

Required Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum of 1 year of clinical and/or translational research experience.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.

Experience with computer software applications including Microsoft Excel and Publisher required.

Desirable Qualifications

Candidates must have be willing to be trained in phlebotomy.

Experience with computer databases including REDCap.

Willingness to learn and experience new challenges.
