Position Summary

Reporting to the Principle Investigator, the Clinical Research Coordinator oversees all research projects and clinical research staff in the Columbia University Irving Medical Center Division of Rheumatology, including NIH sponsored projects, private and foundation grants and industry sponsored clinical trials.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for study subject management: facilitate screening, enrollment and treatment of research subjects in compliance with established regulations and guidelines and internal standard operating procedures.
• Assist with eligibility assessment and obtaining written informed consent as appropriate.
• Maintain and disseminate accurate listings of active and potential study subjects.
• Function as a liaison with sponsoring agencies and external sites.
• Facilitate and help lead regular research team meetings.
• Facilitate sample collection, processing and storage activities.
• Help prepare and oversee reports on deviations and serious adverse events reports for the Institutional Review Board and other agencies.
• Assist with regulatory submissions including protocol review and monitoring.
• Provide training, mentorship and supervision of clinical research staff.
• Assist with short-term projects and provide cross coverage to various research team members as needed.
• Attend conferences and disseminate current policy and procedural information to clinical research staff.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, training and experience, plus four years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications

• MPH, MPA or Master's Degree in relevant field

Other Requirements

• Participation in the medical surveillance program
• Contact with patients and/or human research subjects
• Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
