![]() Postdoc for Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology University of California San Diego We are actively seeking postdoctoral fellows to make a difference in understanding asthma and allergic diseases. We are inviting applications for postdoctoral positions for Dr. Taylor Doherty's laboratory at UC San Diego in the Department of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology. Dr. Doherty's laboratory has a focus on understanding innate immune mechanisms in asthma and allergic diseases. The positions are funded by an NIH T32 award that was renewed in 2020. There is ample opportunity for academic growth, multi-institutional and multi-disciplinary collaboration, and clear pathways to independence. About Dr. Doherty's laboratory: Dr. Taylor Doherty is an associate professor of medicine and Section Chief of Allergy and Immunology at UC San Diego in the Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology. His studies have led to high impact publications in the fields of asthma, airway remodeling, aspirin exacerbated respiratory disease (AERD), and group 2 innate lymphoid cell (ILC2) biology. Dr. Doherty is a co-investigator of an NIH T32 award based in Allergy and Immunology and he maintains NIH, VA, and industry funding sources. Dr. Doherty's initial research identified novel therapeutic targets for the airway inflammation and remodeling that occur in chronic asthma pathology. The Doherty lab has since developed a strong focus on innate type 2 lung responses that contribute to asthma and allergic airway disease. Importantly, we have identified novel mechanisms that regulate group 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) using animal models and human samples. A postdoctoral fellow would rapidly acquire training in novel methods to uncover mechanisms of human and mouse innate lymphoid cell populations in airway disease. Dr. Doherty has a passion for mentorship and would provide a clear path for independence of the postdoctoral fellow. Basic Qualifications: Applicants must have Doctorate degree or its equivalent in project area. Appointment is dependent on academic experience, scholarly achievements, skills and knowledge. Applicants must qualify for the NIH T32 grant. Preferred Qualifications: Postdoctoral or equivalent experience, and commitment to mentoring and research training service to build equitable and diverse scholarly environment. Enthusiastic and self-driven individuals with demonstrated productivity and collaborative characteristics. Preferred experience in immunologic methods and data analysis.
