The laboratory’s research is aimed at understanding innate immune responses to viral infections, with a focus on natural killer cells. Experimental approaches involve flow cytometry, mass cytometry, molecular biology, functional cell-based in vitro assays, and in vivo murine models. This position offers the opportunity to join an innovative research team and contribute to basic and translational research projects. Position assists with the technical aspects of studies and experiments, including documentation and preparation of materials.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists with research studies, experiments, and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions, and set-up and maintenance of equipment.
Maintains the laboratory’s mouse colony (e.g., weaning mice and phenotyping by either PCR or FACS analysis).
Performs data entry and maintains data files on research.
Prepares tissue cultures and reagents.
Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly maintained in accordance with established procedures.
Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree and up to one year of experience in a laboratory setting or an equivalent combination of education and experience equaling four years.
Prior experience with or exposure to standard molecular and cellular biology techniques, including cell culture, cloning, PCR, Western blotting, microscopy, and flow cytometery, as well as mouse handling/procedures.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate with laboratory staff and investigators.
Ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.
Working knowledge of computer software and general lab equipment.
The hiring range for this position is $14.07 - $18.99 per hour.
