UAB Medicine Multispecialty Clinic
Baptist Health has partnered with UAB Health System to open the UAB Medicine Multispecialty Clinic at Baptist Medical Center South. The clinic currently offers six well-needed specialties, including Urology, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology, Cardiovascular Surgery and Breast Surgery. It is our intent to continue to grow these services and add addi...tional specialties in the years to come. The Clinic opened on August 1, 2016 and is located in the UAB School of Medicine Building on the campus of Baptist Medical Center South.
The UAB Medicine Multispecialty Clinic will generate a great amount of excitement among the residents of Central Alabama as many patients are forced to travel outside of our area for medical services due to the overwhelming need, limited access and few similar specialists in our area. These new specialists will increase the access to specialty care in a convenient, centralized location close to home that will lead to earlier diagnosis and treatment of disease. In addition, patients will have access to clinical trials and research activities being performed at UAB that they otherwise may not have access to.
We have recruited fourteen highly trained, outgoing young physicians to start the clinic. They will be employed by UAB and will offer cutting edge services, new surgical procedures and treatments that are not offered in our area. The staff will be employed and managed by Baptist Health. All of the physicians are relocating to Montgomery, many with young families and will become vibrant members of our community.
Baptist Health has been an affiliate of the UAB Health System since 2005 and has partnered with UAB throughout the past four decades to support the UAB Internal Medicine Residency Program and, most recently, the addition of the UAB School of Medicine Montgomery Regional Campus at Baptist South.
This clinic is a major investment for Baptist Health, but one we feel confident will allow our organization to continue to meet its mission of providing the highest level of quality care to the residents of Central Alabama while allowing Baptist Health to meet the growing need for healthcare services and expanding our services to those who matter most—our patients.
